Dr Ruth Thomas obtained her doctorate of medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. During medical school she was honored as a Barton Scholar, inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and graduated with Honors in Neuroscience. Dr. Thomas was the second female to complete orthopaedic residency training at UAMS and followed this with fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee.
As the director of foot and ankle surgery at UAMS Dr. Thomas specializes in complex reconstructions of the foot and ankle. She is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and has been recertified through the MOC program (maintenance of certification) on two additional occasions. She has been listed as a “Best Doctor” since 2003 and is well known both regionally and nationally for her expertise in foot and ankle surgery.
