M. J. Orellano, PT, LMT, completed physical therapy school at the University of Central Arkansas in December 1983, and was licensed by the Arkansas State Medical Board in April 1984. She has been practicing in Central Arkansas since that time. She has owned and operated two separate physical therapy private practices.
Her areas of expertise include outpatient rehab for the orthopedic patient, musculoskeletal injuries, neck and back rehab, fibromyalgia symptom reduction and corporate wellness. She uses a combination of manual therapy and functional exercise and patient education to restore mobility, stability and comfortable activities of daily living. She enjoys sharing in the sense of accomplishment as patients reach their goals.
In addition to her physical therapy degree M.J. is also a licensed massage therapist and will schedule patients through the UAMS Jack Stephens Spine Institute for massage therapy to enhance sports performance or reduce pain.
M. J. has taught continuing education courses on the clinical application of myofascial release and spine rehab to physical and occupational therapist and athletic trainers. She has worked with all levels of musculoskeletal dysfunction ranging from sports performance enhancement in collegiate athletes to the barely fit. She places and emphasis on empowering patients to help them achieve their rehab and performance goals.
She joined UAMS in February 2011 as Rehab Program Manager for outpatient therapy. She maintains a limited clinical practice three mornings a week to allow management time for the growth and improvement of Outpatient Rehab at UAMS.
