Dr. Barreto is a surgical oncologist at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
He graduated with honors from Anahuac University School of Medicine in Mexico City in 2001, followed by general surgery residency training in Mexico City at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition in 2008. He then continued his postgraduate training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and completed general surgery residency as well as a fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Chicago Medical Center. His training included basic cancer research at the Ludwig Center for Metastasis Research at the University of Chicago. He is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Surgeons.
